How JaldiGO was built: a Pakistani ride app from Kharian
About JaldiGO · Published · 2 min read
JaldiGO began in Kharian with a simple complaint: getting across town without your own transport meant waiting for a shared rickshaw to fill. Turning that into an app that works across Pakistan meant solving problems big-city ride apps never had to. This is how it was built, by the Pakistani software company Teebtek.
Built for towns first
Most ride apps assume street addresses and card payments. Neither is common in a Pakistani town. So JaldiGO's place search was built around the names people actually use, in English and in Roman Urdu, with thousands of local landmarks, and the option to drop a pin on an exact gate. Payment is cash, directly to the driver.
A fare nobody can change
The fare is calculated on the server from the real road distance of the trip, not a straight line, and shown before booking. Once shown, it is locked: the app cannot quietly re-price it, and neither can anyone else. That one decision is what ends bargaining, and it is built into the system rather than left to policy. More in fixed fare rides.
Finding a driver fast
A ride request goes to every available driver nearby at the same time, and the search area widens on its own, on the server, minute by minute, until someone accepts. If no driver is free for the vehicle you chose, the app offers the other vehicle types that have a driver nearby, each at its own fixed price.
Local details that matter
Kharian has a cantonment with checkposts, and not every driver can enter. The routing knows the boundary: when a trip would cross it, the app asks about a pass and plans a route the driver can actually take, before the fare is shown.
Drivers are verified by people, not by an algorithm, through a staff dashboard where every CNIC, licence and vehicle photo is reviewed before approval.
Who built it
JaldiGO's Android app, website, staff dashboard and the systems behind them are designed and built by Teebtek, a Pakistani technology company that builds websites, apps and software for businesses. If you are planning an app or a system of your own, Teebtek is where JaldiGO came from.
